Textiles are the slogan of Prato. But the city hosts many artistic gems that you really must visit<\/h2>

Today we are once again going to talk about our city, which on one hand is off the beaten path, away from the masses of tourists, overshadowed by Florence with its Renaissance fame, <\/span>
<\/p>

but on the other hand has been able to find its own place in the hearts of many textile and textile-art enthusiasts, both professionals and amateurs alike. <\/span>Indeed, for centuries Prato has been producing and making a living from textiles. Today, in spite of the recession, there are still thousands of textile companies in the area, and it has become more and more common for people to come visit the city for a sort of \u201cthematic tourism\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Textiles<\/p>

Must see in Prato<\/h2>

Here at DHG<\/span><\/b>, we are happy to promote this type of tourism. And it is our pleasure to host friends and clients as guests every year, and to show them the many sides of our beloved city. A city in which Renaissance and contemporary art and Medieval walls go hand in hand with 20th-century smokestacks, industry and craftsmanship.<\/span><\/p>

\"Textiles
<\/p>

The Cathedral<\/span><\/a><\/strong>, home to frescoes by Filippo Lippi and a pulpit by Donatello and Michelangelo. The thirteenth-century Emperor\u2019s Castle and the <\/span>Palazzo Pretorio which is home to the Civic Museum<\/span><\/a><\/strong>, live in perfect harmony with the more contemporary artwork, including masterpieces by <\/span>Henry Moore<\/span><\/a><\/strong> and <\/span>Fabrizio Corneli<\/span><\/strong>. <\/span><\/b>C<\/span>olorful graffiti, and futuristic buildings like the <\/span>Centro Pecci<\/span><\/a><\/strong>. A nice mixture that we think you should not miss, especially this week.<\/span> <\/p>

.<\/b>\"Textiles<\/h2>

Textiles: a week of art – and much more – in Prato<\/h2>

Indeed, this is going to be a special week, packed with amazing events. The most important of all is definitely going to be the r<\/span>e-opening of the Pecci Contemporary Art Museum<\/span><\/b>.<\/span>
The Pecci Museum was the first Museum in Italy built expressly to show, collect, document and promote the most advanced artistic research. Since its opening, in 1988, the Museum has offered a vast number of exhibitions, carried out activities for the documentation of contemporary art, promoted several educational programs, and hosted shows and multimedia events. Its collection has grown to over a thousand works, mapping the artistic trends from the 1960s to the present day. Painting, sculpture, cinema and video, installations, artworks on paper, art books, photographs, graphic art, and commissioned projects. Today, the complex, in addition to about 4000 square meters of exhibition spaces, hosts the archive and the CID\/Visual Arts Specialized library, with a heritage of about 60,000 books. The opening ceremony will be Sunday at 4 p.m., with an exhibition that has an explicative and controversial title: \u201cThe End of the World\u201d.<\/span><\/p>

\"Textiles<\/p>

In addition to this grand event, many other events will be held around the city. We would like to recommend our favorites, starting with <\/span>Marjolein Dallinga\u2019s solo exhibition, “The Garden of Delight”<\/span><\/b>, opening October 15th, at 5:00 at the <\/span>Museo del Tessuto<\/span><\/a><\/strong>, <\/span><\/b>an event that we are honored to sponsor. <\/span> <\/span><\/b><\/p>

\"Textiles<\/p>\n

The same day, you also shouldn\u2019t miss the inauguration of <\/span>Lottozero Textile Laboratories<\/span><\/a><\/strong>, a new creative hub for textiles, which promises to bring great talents to the city. The late-night opening event will be absolutely unique. <\/span><\/p>

And also…<\/span><\/p>

Thursday the 13th, the inauguration of the the exhibition “Cemento” by <\/span>Franco Menicagli<\/span><\/a><\/strong> at <\/span>Spazio MOO<\/span><\/a><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

Friday the 14th at 6, the exhibition by <\/span>Paolo Parisi with Unit\u00e9 d’Habitation<\/span><\/a><\/strong> at the <\/span>LATO<\/span><\/a> <\/span><\/strong>art gallery.<\/span><\/p>

Last, but not least, the STUDI exhibition by the <\/span>SC17<\/span><\/a> <\/span><\/strong>and Villa Romana collectives, at the Corte in Via Genova. It was inaugurated on October 6th and will be open until October 17th.<\/span><\/p>
