This pochette is<\/span><\/strong> by far my favourite piece of the <\/span>Mood Afro-Chic Style<\/span><\/strong><\/a>. It\u2019s contemporary, chic, fun and absolutely to be copied. Only 3 ingredients are needed to make it: <\/span>DHG prefelt ribbons<\/span><\/strong>, a crochet hook and lots of love. Follow the instructions step by step and you\u2019ll see it isn\u2019t hard.<\/span><\/p>

How to make a pochette with prefelt ribbons<\/h2>

MATERIALS<\/b>
<\/b><\/span>2 2cm press-studs
<\/span>Prefelt ribbons Col. Dark<\/span><\/strong><\/a>\u2013 about 50 metres \/ 55 yards
<\/span>Prefelt ribbons Col. Passion<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, Earth, Theatre, Saffron \u2013 about 30 metres \/ 33 yards per colour.
<\/span>Crochet hook<\/b> n\u00b0 5 <\/span>EU \/ H-8 US<\/span><\/p>

NOTE
<\/span><\/strong>For this project, the prefelt ribbons have been treated before being crocheted. For this important step please follow the instructions here.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>


<\/p>

KNIT-CROCHET STITCHES USED<\/b>
<\/b><\/span>Tunisian Entrelac crochet<\/span><\/p>


<\/p>

METHOD 
<\/b><\/span>The Tunisian crochet consists of working forwards and backwards and a row of diamonds at a time.<\/span><\/p>

Round 1<\/b>: cast on a chain of 56 loops.<\/span><\/p>

Forward pass
<\/b><\/span>Knit a single crochet in the second loop from the hook, insert the hook above the single crochet just done and pull the thread through. Insert the hook into the third loop of the chain but without casting off. At this point you will have 3 loops on the hook<\/span><\/p>

return pass
<\/b>Bind off 2 by 2 (2 closures)<\/span><\/p>

forward pass
<\/span><\/strong>Insert the hook above the single crochet just done and pull the thread through, and come out in the vertical stitches below then insert into the base row (4th) and pull the thread through. At this point you will have 4 loops on the hook that we\u2019ll close in the return pass 2 by 2.<\/span><\/p>


<\/p>

Repeat these 2 steps increasing the number of loops until you have 8 loops.<\/span><\/p>


<\/p>

Return pass
<\/b><\/span>Bind off 2 by 2 with 7 closures. At this point you have made the initial triangle.<\/span><\/p>

Bind off with slip stitches in the vertical stitches below and the last slip stitch on the starting loop of the chain.<\/span>
<\/p>


<\/p>

***<\/span><\/p>

Now we must create a diamond as in the classic Tunisian technique.<\/span><\/h3>

Forward pass
<\/span><\/strong>Insert the hook in the base row and pull the thread through, repeat this step on the 7 initial loops. In total there will be 8 loops on the hook<\/span><\/p>

<\/span><\/strong>Bind off 2 by 2 with 8 closures<\/span><\/p>

forward pass
<\/b><\/span>Repeat these 2 steps always taking the last loop from the initial chain and keeping 8 loops on the hook.<\/span><\/p>

The diamond will consist of 8 loops for every 6 vertical stitches.<\/span>
<\/p>

Bind off with slip stitchs inserting in the vertical stitches from the previous round and taking the last from the initial chain.<\/span>
<\/p>

Repeat from *** to *** until you have 2 diamonds per colour (3 for the Colour. Dark)<\/span>
<\/p>


<\/p>

***<\/span><\/p>

Lastly, we have to make the final triangle.<\/span><\/h3>

Forward pass
<\/b><\/span>Take 7 loops on the chain plus the one we had, for a total of 8 loops on the hook<\/span><\/p>

return pass
<\/b><\/span>Bind off 2 by 2 with 7 closures<\/span><\/p>

forward pass
<\/b><\/span>Take 6 loops plus the one that we had on the hook for a total of 7 loops. Don\u2019t take anything from the base row because we must decrease the loops to create a half diamond<\/span><\/p>

return pass
<\/b><\/span>Bind off 2 by 2 with 6 closures<\/span><\/p>

forward pass
<\/b><\/span>Take 5 loops plus the one on the hook for a total of 6 loops<\/span><\/p>

return pass
<\/b><\/span>Bind off 2 by 2 with 5 closures<\/span><\/p>

forward pass
<\/b><\/span>Take 6 loops plus the one on the hook for a total of 5 loops<\/span><\/p>

return pass
<\/b><\/span>Bind off 2 by 2 with 4 closures.<\/span><\/p>

forward pass
<\/b><\/span>Take 3 loops plus the one on the hook for a total of 4 loops<\/span><\/p>

return pass
<\/b><\/span>Bind off 2 by 2 with 3 closures<\/span><\/p>

forward pass
<\/b><\/span>Take 2 loops plus the one on the hook for a total of 3 loops<\/span><\/p>

return pass
<\/b><\/span>Bind off 2 by 2 with 2 closures<\/span><\/p>

forward pass
<\/b><\/span>Take 1 loop plus the one on the hook for a total of 2 loops<\/span><\/p>

return pass
<\/b><\/span>Bind off with 1 closure. Fasten off<\/span><\/p>

Change colour<\/span><\/h3>


<\/p>

Forward pass
<\/b><\/span>Start in the middle of the initial diamond. Point the hook at the top of the half diamond and pull through a loop<\/span><\/p>

Take out a loop from every slip stitch of the diamond below for a total of 7 loops on the hook plus 1 loop on the next diamond for a total of 8 loops on the hook.<\/span><\/p>

Return pass
<\/b><\/span>Bind off 2 by 2 with 7 closures<\/span><\/p>

forward pass
<\/b><\/span>7 loops on the hook plus one on the next diamond for a total of 8 loops<\/span><\/p>

return pass
<\/b><\/span>Bind off 2 by 2 with 7 closures. At the end there will be a diamond consisting of 8 loops by 6 vertical stitches<\/span><\/p>

Bind off with a slip stitch like we did in the first row of diamonds.<\/span><\/p>


<\/p>

Repeat like this until all the diamonds are completed.<\/span><\/p>


<\/p>

***<\/span><\/p>

Change colour<\/span><\/h3>

Repeat from the beginning, then make the initial half diamond and the other whole ones and finish with the closing of the half diamond.<\/span>
<\/p>


<\/p>

***<\/span><\/p>

At the beginning and at the end of the work, empty spaces were created to be filled by creating triangles<\/span><\/h3>


<\/p>

Warning: you work the same way for both the initial part and the final part of the job.<\/span><\/p>


<\/p>

Forward Pass
<\/b><\/span>There must always be 8 loops on the hook and the last one must always be of the next diamond<\/span><\/p>

return Pass
<\/b><\/span>Bind off 2 by 2 with 5 closures. Bind off the remaining 3 loops together to form one single loop.<\/span><\/p>


<\/p>

Repeat these steps until there are only 3 loops left on the hook to bind off together. Repeat this process in all the empty spaces.<\/span><\/p>

***<\/span><\/p>

Turn it over and fold the rectangle at 19cm, and with a sewing machine close the sides. Fold the top part and apply the press-studs to the corners.<\/span><\/p>


<\/p>

NOTE<\/span><\/p>

The project as we have done, is a rectangle of 40×58 cm \/ 16×23 inches. It begins with the Colour. Dark and then alternates the colors Theater, Saffron, Earth, Passion ending again with Col. Dark.<\/span>
