Celebrating Yarn Day has become a tradition that we simply just can\u2019t miss. We asked the <\/span>Knitting For Breakfast<\/span><\/strong><\/a> sisters for their valuable help for this special day for yarn and handcraft lovers, and they\u2019ve come up with an exclusive pattern for us: an eyelet insert cropped cardigan. This year we\u2019ve got even more reason to celebrate this occasion: the launch of Fluffy – our precious silk mohair yarn!<\/span><\/p>

We\u2019re going to make this warm and light cropped cardigan together using Fluffy in the Coral colour. If you\u2019d like though, you can choose another colour, there’s something for everyone in the collection available on our shop.<\/span><\/p>


<\/p>

This type of garment is worked back and forth with circular needles from top to bottom. As it\u2019s worked as just one piece it has the huge <\/span>advantage of being seamless<\/span><\/strong>. The stitches are gradually increased, from the neck to the sleeves, then the stitches are placed on hold on a thread to be picked up later. The sleeves are worked in the round.<\/span><\/p>

How to make a silk mohair cropped cardigan<\/h2>

Knit 26\/30 stitches, cast on 4 stitches, place 32\/40 stitches on hold on a thread (first sleeve) knit 53\/64 stitches, place the next 32\/40 stitches on a stitch holder (second sleeve) cast on 4 stitches, knit another 26\/30 stitches.<\/span><\/p>

Now we\u2019ll start working on the body, there\u2019ll now be 113\/132 stitches on the needles.<\/span>
Ro<\/span><\/strong>und<\/span><\/strong> 1 (RS):<\/span><\/strong> knit all stitches<\/span>
ro<\/span><\/strong>und<\/span><\/strong> 2 (WS):<\/span><\/strong> purl all stitches<\/span>
Repeat round 1 and 2 until you get a length of about 22\/25cm<\/span>
Now proceed with the circular knitting needle n\u00b0 5.5 EU \/ 9 US and <\/span>2 ply<\/span><\/strong> yarn.<\/span>
Work 16 rounds of rib stitch 1\/1<\/span>
Bind off loosely.<\/span><\/p>

How to make the sleeves of the cropped cardigan (for 2)<\/h3>

Using no.7 needles and 3 ply<\/b><\/span> <\/b>yarn<\/span>
Pick up the 32\/40 stitches left hanging previously and cast on 6 new stitches.<\/span>
Rounds 1 and 2<\/span><\/strong>: knit all stitches<\/span>
Round 3<\/span><\/strong>: knit all stitches and increase 2 stitches<\/span>
Rounds 4 and 5:<\/span><\/strong> knit all stitches<\/span>
Round 6<\/span><\/strong>: knit all stitches and increase 2 stitches<\/span>
Knit all rounds until you get a length of about 37\/39cm from the underarm (there\u2019ll be 42\/50 stitches on the needles).<\/span><\/p>

<\/span>
<\/p>

SIZE M<\/span><\/strong>
Next round<\/span><\/strong>: decrease 14 stitches: k1, 2 stitches together.<\/span>
There are 28 stitches on the needles.<\/span><\/p>

Next round<\/span><\/strong>: spread out 16 decreases evenly<\/span>
There are 34 stitches on the needles<\/span>
Now proceed with circular knitting needle n\u00b0 5.5 \/ 9 US needles and 3 ply<\/b><\/span> yarn.<\/span>
Work 12 rounds<\/span><\/strong> of rib stitch 1\/1<\/span>
Bind off loosely and insert all the threads<\/span>
Finishing off (optional).<\/span>
Pick up with n\u00b0 5 EU \/ H-8 US hook the two edges of the two front sides, work of round of single crochet and two rounds of double crochet.<\/span><\/p>
