Halloween will soon be here! The Celtic festival, which over the centuries has spread worldwide and changed some of its original meaning along the way, is fun for both the young and old. Also this year we want to give you an easy, fun and colourful tutorial so you\u2019re ready for the most enjoyable and otherworldly night of them all!<\/span><\/p>

As a matter of fact, our friend Pollaz<\/a><\/b> has designed a mask for us that the little ones of the house and adults too will love! A quite grumpy, nocturnal animal which instantly captures our hearts with its iridescent feathers and kind eyes. We absolutely love it!<\/span><\/p>

How to make an Eagle Owl mask<\/h2>\n

MATERIALS<\/span><\/strong>
2 mm 30 x 30 cm felt<\/span><\/strong><\/a> \/ 11.8″ x 11.8″ col. Morocco 2 pieces<\/span>
2 mm 30 x 30 cm felt<\/span> \/ 11.8″ x 11.8″ col. Sunset 2 pieces<\/span>
2 mm 30 x 30 cm felt<\/span> \/ 11.8″ x 11.8″ col. Yolk 1 piece<\/span>
2 mm 30 x 30 cm felt<\/span> \/ 11.8″ x 11.8″ col. Wisteria 1 piece<\/span>
2 mm wool felt ribbon 2.5 cm wide<\/span><\/strong><\/a> \/ 1″ col. Thought 5 m \/ 1.9″<\/span>
2 mm wool felt ribbon 2.5 cm <\/span>wide \/ 1″ col. Yolk 5 m \/ 1.9″<\/span>
Piuma yarn<\/span><\/strong><\/a> col. Monet 100 g \/ 3.5 oz<\/span>
Piece of paper<\/span>
Pencil or chalk<\/span>
Scissors<\/span>
Sewing machine<\/span>
Bobbin of white thread<\/span>
Bobbin of black thread<\/span><\/p>

PROCEDURE<\/span><\/b>
<\/p>\n

Before we start explaining all the necessary steps to make the Eagle Owl mask, here\u2019s an actual size template for you to <\/span>download<\/span><\/strong><\/a>. You\u2019ll need an A3 sheet of paper to be able to print it all out.<\/span>
<\/span><\/p>

Let\u2019s get going with the step by\nstep instructions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Draw the head of the owl on the Morocco coloured felt using the tailor\u2019s chalk and then draw the same shape on the Sunset coloured one (but without the part for the eyes). If you want you could draw the template on a piece of paper first to get the right measurements and then trace the shape onto the felt, or you could just use the template. Cut out both pieces and put them on top of each other. The Morocco felt on the bottom and the Sunset felt on top.
<\/span>Using a sewing machine, or even by hand, sew the orange part onto the brown one.<\/span><\/p>

Now move on to decorating the eyes. You\u2019re going to use the felt in the colour Yolk for the bottom lashes and the colour Wisteria for the bushy eyebrows. Just like for the first part you can draw the eyelashes and eyebrows directly onto the felt or use the template to help you. Once you\u2019ve cut out all the pieces put them onto the mask and secure them on with a sewing machine.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

For the beak all you have to do is cut out a little triangle in the colour Thought and sew it onto the bottom of the mask, under the eyes.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>

Now you have to add some other decorations to the mask. Cut out 4 or 5 pieces of 2 mm felt ribbon 2.5 cm color Thought and sew them onto the sides of the mask.<\/span><\/p>


<\/span><\/p>

The last detail is hair coming out of the ears, which is done with Piuma yarn in the colour Monet. Its shades go really well with the other colours of the project. Cut up 5\/6 pieces and sew them on behind the ears.<\/span><\/p>

<\/p>

Now all you have to do is attach the ribbon in the colour Yolk onto the sides of the mask, that were previously cut in half to get 2 ribbons of about 1cm wide. While for the length we recommend at least 25cm. The owl is now ready to be worn!<\/span><\/p>

<\/p>

P.S. Don\u2019t throw any leftover felt away! You could use it to make another mask, maybe swapping around the colours or for another crafty project.<\/span>
