Elisa Sartori, on Instagram as @elisascrochet<\/a><\/b>, discovered the world of yarn and crocheting when she moved to the United States and found that she had a lot of free time on her hands. Table runners, doilies and scarves were the first projects that she dedicated herself to before discovering the artform of amigurumi. <\/span>Once she became proficient in this Japanese technique, she immediately started drafting her designs.<\/span> <\/span>The thing she loves most about <\/span>amigurumi<\/span> is bringing her fantasies and ideas to life. She likes to work with different types of yarns, from the simplest; like those of cotton, to the finest; like those of merino wool.<\/span> <\/span>It’s important to be aware that any material can add a touch of originality and make a product stand out.<\/span> <\/span>She draws inspiration f<\/span>or her projects<\/span> from everything around her such as animals, plants, or even simple everyday objects!<\/span><\/p>

We asked Elisa to think of a pattern just for us. And she came up with an extremely soft lion. With closed eyes and joyful expression. A Zen-like lion that tries to decipher the song-like messages of other animals!<\/span><\/p>

Round <\/b>12<\/b>: <\/span>single crochet 4 (4), leave some extra <\/span>nougat <\/span>yarn and switch to beaver coloured yarn and chain 1<\/span>

round <\/b>14<\/b>: decrease <\/span>2<\/span> (2) 1 <\/span>chain 1

Leave some extra <\/span>beaver coloured yarn<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>

Sew the nose to the head, placing the beaver-coloured triangular section between rounds 11 and 14<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>

Sew the two sections to the head with the extra yarn of the corresponding colour. With the beaver-coloured yarn and the needle, make a long stitch to create the shape of the mouth.<\/span><\/p>

Using the beaver-coloured yarn<\/span> <\/span>and a wool needle<\/span>, embroider the lions’ eyes <\/span>between rounds 10 and 11<\/span> (4 stitches long). Leave a space of 2 stitches between the eyes and the nose section.<\/span>
<\/p>

With the rust-coloured yarn and a wool needle, embroider three horizontal lines (the width of a stitch) on the cheeks of the lion, between rounds 14 and 16.<\/span><\/p>

How to stitch the mane of the amigurumi lion<\/h3>

Round <\/b>1<\/b>: <\/span>with the rust-coloured yarn<\/span>, <\/span>chain 35<\/span>, 2 double crochets in the third chain starting from the hook, then stitch 2 <\/span>double crochets<\/span> in each of the following stitches (68).<\/span><\/p>

Leave some extra <\/span>yarn<\/span> to sew the mane onto the head of the lion.<\/span><\/p>

Steps to make the ears of the amigurumi lion<\/h3>

Round <\/b>1<\/b>: <\/span>with the saffron-coloured yarn<\/span>, <\/span>chain 4<\/span>, increase 1 in the second stitch <\/span>from the hook<\/span>, single crochet 1 in the <\/span>following stitch<\/span>, increase 2 in the last chain, continue to stitch on the other side of the initial chain, <\/span>single crochet 1<\/span>, 1 increase <\/span>in the <\/span>following stitch<\/span> (10)<\/span>
