Here we have another crochet stitch to learn together. The Tunisian Breton stitch is already a stunning stitch in itself, however, if you then crochet it in a two-tone version, as we did, then it becomes a real stunner! We like it particularly because, if you look at the square up close, it gives you the feeling of seeing many small rockets ready to launch into space! What could be more incredible than that?<\/span><\/p>

The yarn chosen for the Tunisian Breton stitch is our Piuma yarn. In pure extra fine merino wool, in the colours of Snow and Tuareg. It seemed to us the perfect match: stripes plus white together with blue. Although, feel free to choose the combination you prefer from the many colours available in the collection.<\/span><\/p>

Tutorial: how to crochet the Tunisian Breton stitch<\/h2>

MATERIALS<\/b><\/span>

Crochet hook n\u00b0 8 EU \/ 11 US<\/span><\/p>

METHOD<\/b><\/span><\/p>

With colour A work of foundation chains in multiples of 3+4.<\/span><\/p>

Base row
<\/b><\/span>Forward round<\/b>: <\/span>With colour A<\/span> skip 1 chain starting from the hook to substitute the first simple stitch, *insert the hook in the following chain, 1 yarn over on the hook and pull out the stitch, leave the stitch on the hook*, always repeat from * to *. Do not turn the piece over.<\/span>
Return round<\/b>: With colour A, thread on the hook and pull it through only the first stitch, *thread on the hook and pull it through the first 2 stitches on the hook closing them*, repeat from * to * for the entire round. Do not turn the piece over.<\/span><\/p>

Row <\/b>1<\/b>
<\/span>Forward round<\/b>: With colour B, chain 1 (simple stitch<\/span>), 1 simple stitch, that is, enter with the hook from front to back and from right to left in the following vertical thread, thread on the hook and pull out the stitch, leave the stitch on the hook; *1 motif, that is, insert the hook at the same time from front to back and from right to left in the following 3 vertical threads, <\/span>thread on the hook and pull out the stitch<\/span>, <\/span>chain 1, insert the hook into the loop that formed at the top of the stitches taken together, 1 yarn over on the hook and pull out the stitch, leave the stitch on the hook*, repeat from * to * until the last 2 stitches, finish with 1 simple stitch <\/span>in the last 2 vertical threads. Do not turn the piece over.<\/span>
Return round<\/b>: With colour B, thread on the hook and pull it through only the first stitch, thread on the hook and pull it out through the first 2 stitches closing them, *chain 1, thread on the hook and pull it out through the chain and through the next stitch closing them, thread on the hook and pull it through the first 2 stitches on the hook by closing them*, finish with (thread on the hook and pull it out through the first 2 stitches closing them) 2 times. Do not turn the piece over.<\/span><\/p>

Row <\/b>2<\/b>
<\/span>Forward round<\/b>: <\/span>With colour B<\/span>, <\/span>chain 1<\/span> (simple stitch<\/span>), 1 simple stitch<\/span> in the following vertical thread, *1 simple stitch<\/span> <\/span>in the following 2 vertical threads, 1 simple stitch in the next chain,<\/span> insert the hook in the centre of the chain, 1 yarn over on the hook and pull out the stitch, leave the stitch on the hook*, repeat from * to *<\/span> u<\/span>ntil the last 2 stitches<\/span>, 1 simple stitch<\/span> <\/span>in the last 2 vertical threads<\/span>. <\/span>Do not turn the piece over<\/span>.<\/span>
Return round<\/b>: <\/span>With colour B<\/span>, knit as said for the base row return round. <\/span>Do not turn the piece over<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>

Row <\/b>3 and 4<\/b>: <\/span>With colour A<\/span>, knit as states in rows 1 and 2
<\/span>row 5<\/b>: repeat from the first row until you reach the desired length, however finish with a 3rd round in colour A.<\/span><\/p>

Last row<\/b>
<\/span>Forward round<\/b>: <\/span>With colour B, knit as stated for row 2, Forward round<\/span>. <\/span>Do not turn the piece over<\/span>.
<\/span>Return round<\/b>: <\/span>With colour B<\/span>, <\/span>knit as stated for row 2<\/span>, <\/span>Return round. Break the thread and tie it off.<\/span><\/p>

Start with the part before the first *, repeat from * to * for the entire round and finish with the part that follows the second *. Knit the last row as indicated above.<\/span><\/p>
