This knitted openwork sweater vest is made with our Lincoln cotton yarn. It is a <\/span>fresh,<\/span> <\/span>summery garment, knitted with a simple openwork stitch that is distributed uniformly over the entire piece. It is worked in the round from bottom to top in a single piece up to the underarm section, then it is continued flat in two separate parts, front and back. The edges of the sleeves are instead taken up in the round but only for a few rounds.<\/span><\/p>

The Lincoln yarn is slightly shiny and therefore gives the garment a precious and elegant look. We have chosen the Fire colour and we have called it the Cherry Pie sweater vest because, with this colour, it seems to be covered with lots of rich, fleshy cherries!<\/span><\/p>

The stitches used in the simple openwork are yarns over needle and nut stitches, which also add a lively and fun aspect to the vest, ideally suited for the arrival of summer.<\/span><\/p>

Tutorial: how to knit an openwork sweater vest<\/h2>

The diagram is read from the bottom up. When working in the round it is always read from right to left; when working flat it reads from right to left <\/span>when working on the right side and from left to right when working on the wrong side.<\/span> <\/span>The odd rows are the right side, and the even ones are the wrong side.<\/span><\/p>

METHOD<\/span><\/b><\/p>

Work in the round from bottom to top in one piece up to the underarm. Work the yoke in two separate sections, front and back. Work the cuffs in the round starting from the shoulder, after sewing them.<\/span>

How to knit the body of the sweater vest<\/h3>

With n\u00b0 5 EU \/ 8 US needles c<\/span>ast on 160\/180 stitches, insert the stitch marker at the start of the round and close in the round.<\/span>
<\/p>

From round 1 to round 8<\/b>: work in rib1\/1.<\/span><\/p>

Knit one round.<\/span><\/p>

Follow the DIAGRAM 4 times (or until the desired length).<\/span><\/p>

How to knit the front of the sweater vest<\/h3>

At this point the project is divided into two parts, therefore continue knitting back and forth only the first half of the stitches (80\/90 stitches).<\/span>
<\/p>

Row 1 right side<\/b>: <\/span>cast on 1 stitch, follow the diagram until the end of the row. Turn the piece
<\/span>Row 2<\/b> wrong side<\/b>: <\/span>follow the <\/span>diagram <\/span>until the end of the row. Turn the <\/span>piece<\/span>(82\/92 stitches)
<\/span>Row 3 <\/b><\/span>right side<\/b>: <\/span>Knit 1, follow the <\/span>diagram <\/span>until <\/span>1 stitch before the end, knit 1. Turn the <\/span>piece
<\/span>Row 4 <\/b><\/span>wrong side<\/b>: <\/span>Knit 1, follow the <\/span>diagram <\/span>until <\/span>1 stitch before the end, knit 1. Turn the <\/span>piece<\/span><\/p>

Repeat rows 3 and 4 until you have knitted the diagram twice.<\/span><\/p>

Knit 6\/10 rows in stockinette stitch.<\/span><\/p>

Leave these loops hanging.<\/span><\/p>

How to knit the back of the sweater vest<\/h3>

knit as was done for the front.<\/span><\/p>

How to knit the shoulders<\/h3>

Sew with a blind seam in graft stitch 20\/24 stitches for each shoulder, joining the front with the back.<\/span><\/p>

Leave the central 42\/44 stitches in hanging, both the front and of the back, for the neck.<\/span>

How to knit the cuff of the sleeves<\/h3>

With needles n\u00b0 5 EU \/ 8 US pick up 82\/90 stitches along the armhole, insert the stitch marker at the start of the round in the underarm and recommence working in the round.<\/span>
<\/p>

Knit 3 rounds in rib 1\/1.<\/span><\/p>

Softly close all the stitches.<\/span><\/p>

<\/p>

Repeat for the second sleeve.<\/span><\/p>

How to knit the neck<\/h3>

Put back the 42\/44 <\/span>back<\/span> <\/span>stitches and the 42\/44 front stitches left <\/span>previously<\/span> <\/span>hanging on <\/span>5 EU \/ 8 US<\/span> needles. Insert the stitch marker and work in the round. O<\/span>n the needles t<\/span>here will be 84\/88 stitches.<\/span><\/p>

Knit 3 rounds in rib 1\/1.<\/span>
<\/p>

Close all the stitches.<\/span>
<\/p>

Insert all the threads. Wash and fix the garment.<\/span>
<\/p>
