Today we are sharing <\/span>with you<\/span> the pattern for a puff sleeve sweater. Openwork and knitted with a linen and cotton yarn, our Cleopatra to be precise. It is easy on the eyes and even on the skin because, being openwork, it is breathable and therefore comfortable to wear even on the hottest of days.<\/span><\/p>

The version you will create by the end of this tutorial has been <\/span>deliberately <\/span>designed to be short. If your preference is for a slightly longer top, simply increase the length of the garment by a few rows.<\/span><\/p>

Why do we like it? It is lively, goes perfectly with a pair of jeans or a long skirt, and has a very special openwork stitch.<\/span><\/p>

Tutorial: how to create a puff sleeves sweater<\/h2>

MATERIALS<\/span><\/b>
Cleopatra yarn<\/a><\/b> col. Orchid 200 g \/ 7 oz<\/span>
Knitting needles n\u00b0 3 EU \/ US<\/span><\/p>

GAUGE<\/span><\/b>
10 cm x 10 cm \/ 4″ x 4″<\/span>
28 stitches and 24 rows<\/span><\/p>

STITCHES USED<\/span><\/b>
Rib1\/1<\/span><\/u>:<\/span>
Knit 1 and purl 1, in the following row knit on the knitted stitch and purl 1 on the purled stitch
<\/span>Openwork stitch
<\/span>Alternating <\/span><\/u>eyelet<\/span>:
<\/span>row 1: knit 2 *the stitch is worked on multiples of 3 plus 2 stitches, 1 yarn over, 1 simple stitch passed over (slip a stitch without working it, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch <\/span>over<\/span>), <\/span>1 yarn over<\/span>, knit 3*. Repeat from * to * for the entire row and finish with knit 2

METHOD<\/b><\/span><\/p>

Using <\/span>needles<\/span> n\u00b0 3 EU \/ US c<\/span>ast on 84 stitches. Work rib for 15 rows and then purl one row.<\/span><\/p>

Now start knitting with the alternating <\/span>eyelet <\/span>stitch and when you reach 32 cm<\/span> <\/span>\/ 12.6″<\/span> <\/span>height<\/span> <\/span>in total start making the sleeve hole.<\/span><\/p>

For each sleeve hole, carry out the decreases at the beginning of the row, once on the right side of the piece and once on the wrong side, then continue with the alternating <\/span>eyelet <\/span>pattern as per the instructions.<\/span><\/p>

Then decrease 6 stitches, then 4, 3, 2 and finally 1 stitch on each part.<\/span><\/p>

Continue up to 38 cm<\/span> <\/span>\/ 15″<\/span> and create the hole for the neckline.<\/span><\/p>

Knit 26, following the indications for the alternating <\/span>eyelet <\/span>stitch. Close 14 stitches and continue over the remaining 26 stitches with alternating <\/span>eyelet <\/span>stitch.<\/span><\/p>

Continue to knit on one side only, you should be on the right-hand side, then the next row you will need to purl.<\/span><\/p>

Once this row has been purled, decrease 2 more stitches at the start of the work and continue following the indications for the alternating <\/span>eyelet <\/span>stitch.<\/span>
<\/p>

Decrease again by 2 stitches.<\/span><\/p>

Continue to knit until you reach a <\/span>total height of<\/span> 42 cm<\/span> <\/span>\/ 16.5″<\/span>. Close the stitches all at once for the right shoulder.<\/span><\/p>

At this point, resume the knitting on the other shoulder. Perform the same decreases already done for the neckline on the right-hand side. Continue up to 42 cm<\/span> <\/span>\/ 16.5″<\/span> in total and close the stitches.<\/span><\/p>

How to knit the back of the puff sleeves sweater<\/h3>

Knit as you have for the front up to the sleeve hole.<\/span><\/p>

However, the sleeve hole on the back is less deep, so the decreases will be 5, 4, 3 and 1 stitch on each part.<\/span><\/p>

Continue up to 42 cm<\/span> <\/span>\/ 16.5″<\/span> in total and close all the stitches.<\/span><\/p>

How to knit the sleeves of the puff sleeves sweater<\/h3>

Cast on 60 stitches.<\/span><\/p>

Work rib for 7 rows, on the first row knit 26 increases.<\/span>
<\/p>

Work purl.<\/span>
<\/p>

Start knitting with alternating eyelet stitch.<\/span><\/p>

At a <\/span>total height<\/span> <\/span>of<\/span> <\/span>6 cm<\/span> <\/span>\/ 2.4″<\/span>, the decreases for the sleeve hole begin.<\/span><\/p>

Decreases are done on each side at the beginning of the row.<\/span><\/p>

Decrease 3 stitches, then 2 and finally 1 stitch.<\/span><\/p>

Continue decreasing 1 stitch again for another 5 times.<\/span>
<\/p>

Decrease 1 stitch every 2 rows 7 times.<\/span>
<\/p>

Decrease<\/span> <\/span>3 <\/span>stitches <\/span>3 <\/span>times<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>

Close all stitches.<\/span><\/p>

Work the other sleeve in the same way.<\/span><\/p>

Sew a shoulder, starting from the right.<\/span><\/p>

Knit up the stitches around the neckline.<\/span>

Work 1\/1 rib for 8 rows.<\/span>

Continue sewing the other shoulder.<\/span>
<\/p>

Sew the sides.<\/span><\/p>
