Lotte loves experimenting with various weaving and macrame techniques and especially enjoys working with patterns, texture and colour. She attributes her artistic nature to her architect father, while her simple and modern Scandinavian style stems from her Finnish mother.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Nature is a major source of inspiration for Lotte\u2019s work. An avid skier and rock climber, Lotte spends a significant amount of time in the mountains and is continually captivated by nature\u2019s beauty, lines and textures. She is also drawn to bold colours and patterns influenced by the Scandinavian textiles that have surrounded her her entire life.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Recently, Lotte has been exploring the traditional Finnish \u201cryijy\u201d (rya) technique and she looks forward to seeing where that might lead.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Her dream is to create larger pieces for people\u2019s homes and commercial spaces and to continue exploring the many possibilities with weaving.<\/span><\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dhgshop.performize.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/minttufiber-arts.jpg\" style=\"width: 100%;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><br><\/span><\/p><br><br><h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Minttu Fibre Arts gets creative with our yarns<\/h2><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">She created a series of frame weaves using the Sailorman and Lincoln cotton yarns.  Floral patterns are her favourite, but she found fun experimenting with a zebra pattern, showing that organic patterns can also be displayed on a fixed frame weave. <\/span><\/p><br><br><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">She loves the vibrant colours of the Sailorman cotton and the width of the yarn works well for frame weaving, while the Lincoln cotton is soft and easy to work with and has a beautiful sheen adding lustre to the pieces.<\/span><\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dhgshop.performize.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/minttu-fiberarts.jpg\" style=\"width: 100%;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><br><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"> And here\u2019s the story about the name of her textile boutique. \u201cMinttu\u201d is the name of a Finnish children\u2019s book series that Lotte read with her grandmother, Mummu, who also introduced her to weaving and crocheting.
