Which also includes a small variation to the pattern.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Today&#8217;s stitch is called the rice grain stitch and also its variant: the double grain of rice&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">stitch<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">. You will see that even a minute variation of the stitch goes on to create quite a different texture. In the first stitch, the pattern is created by the horizontal bars from the purl stitches which protrude from the knitted stitches. In the second stitch there is more focus on the vertical and you can notice the alternation of the columns of knitted stitches.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The consistency of the gauge is also different: the rice grain&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">gauge&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">is thicker and more consistent, while the double rice grain&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">gauge<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">is lighter.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Thanks to the alternation of knitted and purled stitches, none of the 4 edges are susceptible to curling.
