Simplicity never goes out of fashion and this shirt is proof of that. Today we are offering you a pattern to create a jumper with crisp lines, long sleeves, a boat neck, and a simple motif on the front. It is a garment that can be worn week in and week out without becoming boring.<\/span><\/p>

However, what makes this jumper truly unique is the yarn used; namely, our Lagom, here seen in the River colour. Unisex, with contrasting colours and 70% recycled wool derived from rags. Lagom’s texture is slightly rough but softens after the first washes.<\/span><\/p>

Little fashion tip: this jumper also looks great with a long narrow denim skirt.<\/span><\/p>

Start by working the two halves of the back separately. For the first half, cast on 16 (20) stitches with needles no. 3 EU\/3 US.<\/span><\/p>

Now continue with stockinette stitch straight across the 104 (112) stitches on the needle for another 66 (70) rows: you will get to row 70 (74), equal to 28 (30) cm \/ 11″ (11.8″) measured along the central height. Now, for the armholes, increase as follows: for simplicity, the numbering of the rows starts from 1 again.<\/span><\/p>

Row 1<\/span><\/b>: cast on 4 new stitches, knit to the end of the row, then cast on 4 new stitches.<\/span>
row 2<\/span><\/b>: purl 112 (120) stitches.<\/span><\/p>

Continue with stockinettefor another 36 (40) rows: you will get to row 38 (42) equal to 15 (17) cm\/5.9″ (6.7″) from the stitches cast on for the armholes. Bind off the piece.<\/span><\/p>

Now continue with stockinette stitch straight across the 108 stitches of the needle for another 68 rows: you will get to row 72, equal to 29 cm \/ 11.4″ measured along the central height. Now, for the armholes, increase as follows: for simplicity, the numbering of the rows starts again from 1.<\/span><\/p>

Row 1<\/span><\/b>: cast on 4 new stitches, knit to the end of the row, then cast on 4 new stitches.<\/span>
row 2:<\/span><\/b> purl 116 stitches.<\/span><\/p>

Continue with stockinette for another 38 rows: you will get to row 40 equal to 16 cm \/ 6.3″ from the stitches cast on for the armholes. Bind off the piece.<\/span><\/p>

How to knit the front of the boat neck jumper<\/h3>

With needles n\u00b0 3 EU \/ 3 US cast on 104 (108, 112) stitches and work rib 2\/2 for 4 rows and stockinette for 60 (66, 70) rows: you will get to row 64 (70, 74), equal to 26 (28, 30) cm \/ 10.2″ (11″, 11.8″).<\/span><\/p>

Now, starting from the 2 central stitches, continue by progressively exchanging the stockinette with the reverse stockinette stitch on each row.<\/span><\/p>

Work as follows: for simplicity, the row numbering starts again from 1.<\/span><\/p>

Row 1<\/span><\/b>: knit 51 (53, 55) stitches, purl 2 and knit 51 (53, 55) stitches<\/span>
row 2<\/span><\/b>: purl 50 (52, 54) stitches, knit 4 and purl 50 (52, 54) stitches.<\/span><\/p>

Following the layout of row 2, in each subsequent row work 1 less stitch in stockinette at the end of the initial stitches in stockinette, 1 more stitch in reverse stockinette stitch before and after the group of central stitches in reverse stockinette and 1 less stitch in stockinette at the beginning of the final stitches in stockinette: finish when you have all the stitches worked in stockinette, then continue in reverse stockinette.<\/span><\/p>

At the same time, when you have worked 82 (84, 86) rows in total, equal to 33 (34, 35) cm \/ 13″ (13.4″, 13.8″), for the armholes, in the next row increase as follows: cast on 4 new stitches, continue as instructed until the end of the row, then cast on 4 new stitches.<\/span><\/p>

Continue layout: on the new stitches cast on, start working with Stockinette. When you have worked 110 (114, 120) rows in total, equal to 44 (46, 48) cm \/ 17.3″ (18.1″, 18.9″), for the neckline, bind off the central stitches and continue separately on the two parts: for simplicity, the row numbering starts again from 1.<\/span><\/p>

Row 1<\/span><\/b>: work as per the layout up to the 26 (26, 30) central stitches, bind off the 26 (26, 30) central stitches for the neckline, and finish the row as per the layout<\/span>
row 2<\/span><\/b>: work as set out on the stitches of the first part<\/span>
row 3<\/span><\/b>: bind off the first 2 stitches, and finish the row as set out<\/span>
row 4<\/span><\/b>: work as set out on the remaining stitches.<\/span><\/p>

Rows 3 and 4 set out the decreases for the neckline, repeat them 3 more times: you will get to row 10, equal to 4 cm \/ 1.6″.<\/span><\/p>

Bind off the piece.<\/span><\/p>

Pick up the stitches from the second part of the front and continue in the same way, binding off the stitches for the neckline at the beginning of the even rows. Once you have reached the same height as the first part, bind off the piece.<\/span><\/p>

How to knit the sleeves of a boat neck jumper<\/h3>

Start from the right sleeve.<\/span><\/p>

With needles no. 3 EU \/ 3 US cast on 44 (48, 52) stitches and work 4 rows in rib 2\/2.<\/span><\/p>

Row 5<\/span><\/b>: knit 1 stitch, 1 increase (knit into front and back), continue knitting until the last stitch, work 1 increase (knit into front and back), knit 1 <\/span>
row 6<\/span><\/b>: purl<\/span>
rows 7 to 24<\/span><\/b>: work in stockinette.<\/span><\/p>

Rows from 5 to 24 set stockinette with increases, repeat them 4 more times: you will get to row 104, equal to 41.5 cm \/ 16.3″, with (54, 58, 62) stitches on the needle. Work for another 8 (6, 4) rows in stockinette without increases: you will get to row 112 (110, 108), equal to 45 (44, 43) cm \/ 17.7″ (17.3″, 16.9″). bind off the piece.<\/span><\/p>

Work the left sleeve as stated for the right.<\/span><\/p>
