What we are creating today is a day model. With a checkered pattern and without a button or zipper: the closure is magical and super simple because it’s a Japanese knot bag!<\/span><\/p>

Here we have three colour variations of Ariel, the yarn chosen for this basket stitch bag. On the shop, you have many other colour variants.<\/span><\/p>

We recommend using Ariel yarn for this project. With any other yarn, the result will not be as magnificent.<\/span><\/p>

Tutorial: how to crochet a basket stitch bag<\/h2>

MATERIALS
<\/b><\/span>Ariel yarn<\/a><\/b> col. Atlantic<\/span> 350 g \/ 12.3 oz<\/span>
Crochet hook n\u00b0 4.5 EU \/ 7 US<\/span><\/p>

STITCHES USED
<\/span><\/b>Basket point<\/span><\/u>:<\/span>
work a row of chains divisible by 8+1+3 for the base chain and the first double crochet.<\/span>
Row 1: insert the hook into the 4th chain and work the entire row with double crochets<\/span>
row 2 and 3: work 2 chains, 4 double crochets worked in relief on the front, 4 double crochets worked in relief on the back, alternate throughout the entire row, bind off with a half double crochet<\/span>
rows 4 and 5: work 4 double crochets in relief on the back, 4 double crochets worked in relief on the front, alternate for the entire row, and bind off with a half double crochet.<\/span>
Magic Circle<\/span><\/u>:<\/span>
Pass the thread twice over the index and middle fingers of your hand, and pass the second thread behind the first.<\/span>
Hold the thread at the back with your thumb.<\/span>
Pass the crochet hook under the first thread and pull out the second one, this way you will get a loop.<\/span>
Remove your finger from the circle.<\/span>
Work the stitches as stated in the pattern and once finished, pull the cast-on thread and tighten the circle until it becomes invisible.<\/span><\/p>

Start with the magic circle technique for 14 rows, you will end up with 84 single crochets.<\/span><\/p>

Row 1<\/span><\/b>: work in double crochet from the back<\/span>
row 2<\/span><\/b>: set basket stitch on 6 stitches, 3 rows for each square, work 6 stitches taken from the front and 6 stitches taken from the back. Work like this for 7 rows and only make one row to exchange the working of the squares<\/span>
row 3<\/span><\/b>: work single crochet for the entire row<\/span>
row 4<\/span><\/b>: work in slip stitch<\/span>
row 5<\/span><\/b>: work single crochet on the stitch taken from the rib.<\/span><\/p>

How to crochet strings for the bag<\/h3>

Cast on 60 chains.<\/span><\/p>

Row 1<\/span><\/b>: work in single crochet<\/span>
row 2<\/span><\/b>: work slip stitch.<\/span><\/p>

Attach the string to the back of the bag.<\/span><\/p>

Cast on 30 chains.<\/span><\/p>

Row 3 and 4<\/span><\/b>: Single crochet in the round for both rows<\/span>
