A knitted shawl, yes, but not the one your grandma used to make! Today, we\u2019ll learn together how to create one with a neutral base and colorful details. The result is a shawl with a bold, contemporary look, featuring multicolored brushstrokes spread across the entire piece.<\/span><\/p>

This item was made with one of our favorite yarns, Lagom, which we were eager to include in our collection not only to enrich our range of yarns but also because of the philosophy behind it: beautiful and sustainable. Lagom is made from reclaimed fabric scraps, fulfilling one of our biggest goals: promoting regenerated yarns and contributing to the circular economy.<\/span><\/p>

Lagom can be used with knitting needles and crochet hooks, but also for hand weaving. It’s perfect, for example, for making handmade socks. It’s a product that\u2019s both beautiful and good \u2013 what more could you want?<\/span><\/p>

Tutorial to knit a shawl<\/h2>

MATERIALS
<\/b><\/span>Lagom yarn<\/span><\/a><\/b> col. Desert 280 g \/ 9.9 oz + small quantities in Pumpkin and Prince colors<\/span>
Knitting needles 4.5 mm EU \/ US 7<\/span>
Stitch markers<\/span>
Tapestry needle<\/span><\/p>

GAUGE \u2013 IN STOCKINETTE STITCH
<\/b><\/span>10 cm x 10 cm \/ 4″ x 4″<\/span>
11.5 stitches and 18 rows<\/span><\/p>

STITCHES USED

Twisted knit<\/span><\/u>:<\/span>
knit the stitch through the back loop of the stitch below.<\/span>
Stockinette stitch<\/span><\/u>:<\/span>
row 1: knit<\/span>
row 2: purl<\/span>
Repeat rows 1 and 2.<\/span>
Right-leaning increase<\/span><\/u>:<\/span>
lift the bar between the worked stitch and the next one, and knit it through the back loop.<\/span><\/p>

EMBROIDERY STITCH<\/span><\/b>
Duplicate stitch<\/span><\/u>:<\/span>
Insert the needle from the back of the work to the front at the base of the stitch to be embroidered, leaving a tail of a few cm at the back. Pass the needle under both loops of the stitch above the one being embroidered, following the path of the base stitch yarn. Pass from right to left, following the yarn path downward. Reinsert the needle at the base of the embroidered stitch, and bring it out at the base of the next stitch to be embroidered. Repeat, working as many duplicate stitches as needed to complete the design.<\/span><\/p>

Repeat rows 11\u201314 for an additional 33 times, ending on row 146. You should have approximately 80 cm \/ 32″ in height along the central line, with 217 stitches on your needle. Bind off all stitches.<\/span><\/p>

How to finish the shawl<\/h3>

Embroider decorations in your preferred placement and spacing across the shawl. Using Pumpkin and Prince colors, embroider vertical lines with duplicate stitches, 1 stitch wide and of varying heights, to mimic stems. For some lines, starting approximately halfway up the established height, embroider 2 or 3 stitches wide to mimic buds, using the same color.<\/span><\/p>
