Select a product

Mulberry Grade A1 silk laps represents one of the purest and finest forms of mulberry silk, prized for its extraordinary quality and flawless silk structure. It takes the form of an ultra-lightweight pile composed of long, perfectly aligned fibers that retain all the natural luster and softness typical of Mulberry silk.
The Grade A1 selection identifies the finest fibers of all: uniform, clean and regular, capable of providing a continuous, luminous surface. Its structure allows for extremely versatile materials while maintaining high strength and superior aesthetic performance. An iconic raw material designed for high-end textile processing where lightness, purity and quality come together in a perfect balance.

Availability and packaging
Mulberry silk laps is available in 50 g and 500 g packs per color. Each package has a natural tolerance of ±3%. The various package sizes are designed for both those who need small quantities and those who need large quantities and/or want to save money. For shipments outside the EU, the packages are vacuum-sealed, reducing their volume and lowering shipping costs. Don’t worry: once opened, the fiber returns to its original volume, soft and fluffy, with no loss of quality.

Mulberry silk is a natural fiber of animal origin composed mainly of fibroin, a structural protein that gives it high strength despite its fineness. In A1 grade tops, the fiber is extremely uniform, clean, and has a high average length, a characteristic that ensures smooth and even spinning. It is a fiber in continuous filament form, with excellent natural luster (silky sheen) and smooth surface, free of impurities or neps. Mechanically, it offers excellent tensile strength among the highest natural fibers, while maintaining good elasticity and controlled deformation capacity. It also exhibits strong dye-absorption capacity, allowing deep and uniform dyeing, and natural thermoregulation and breathability, typical of noble protein fibers.

Our Mulberry silk stratum comes from China, where sericulture has been developed for thousands of years and where it has remained an exclusive and jealously guarded knowledge for centuries. Its production comes from the rearing of the silkworm(Bombyx mori), fed exclusively on mulberry(mulberry) leaves. This type of controlled feeding and the highly regulated rearing environment make it possible to obtain an extremely uniform, fine and durable fiber, considered the finest of traditional silks.
Today China remains the world's leading producer of Mulberry silk, followed by other Asian countries such as India and Vietnam, but the Chinese production model is still the benchmark for quality and industrial and craftsmanship standards.

It is mainly used in artisan spinning, where it can be made into very fine and regular yarns, often in combination with other fibers to improve its structure and hold.
It also finds excellent application in water and needle felting, where its ability to compact with other natural fibers, such as wool, allows for fine and refined surfaces. In the creative field it is also used for textile art and decorative work, such as textural layers, inserts or three-dimensional surfaces, thanks to its open structure and easy shaping.
In general, it is a fiber suitable for techniques in which work is done by layering, integration and transformation, rather than for traditional structured yarns.
