Loading...Tops Alpaca Baby represents one of the finest expressions of alpaca fiber, selected for its extraordinary fineness and regularity. Sourced from farms located primarily in South America, where alpacas are traditionally raised at high altitudes, this fiber is carefully selected and combed into tops to ensure continuity, uniformity and maximum workability. The result is a soft, lightweight and valuable raw material designed to meet the demands of high-level spinning, weaving and fiber art techniques.
Availability and packaging
Our baby alpaca tops are available in 100 g, 500 g, 1 kg packages per color. Each package has a natural tolerance of ±3% and contains baby alpaca in continuous tape. The different packages are designed for both those who need small quantities and those who need large quantities and/or want to save money. For non-ECE shipments, the packages are vacuum-packed, reducing volume and lowering shipping costs. Don’t worry: once opened, the fiber returns to its original, fluffy volume without any loss of quality.

Baby alpaca fiber is not necessarily derived from young animals, but indicates the finest and most select fibers of the fleece, generally gathered from the softest areas of the coat (chest and flanks). Baby alpaca is in fact an extremely fine fiber, with a diameter generally between 17 and 22 microns. Its structure is uniform and regular, with little pronounced cuticular scales that enhance its softness to the touch. Lanolin-free and naturally light, it combines strength, comfort and excellent thermal insulating properties, making it a valuable and versatile fiber for high-quality processing.
Baby alpaca fiber comes mainly from the Andean regions of South America, particularly Peru, Bolivia and Chile, where alpaca breeding has a thousand-year tradition. The animals live in high-altitude areas characterized by large temperature ranges, conditions that contribute to the development of a particularly fine and durable fleece. Baby fiber selection takes place during annual shearing, choosing the softest parts of the coat, destined for the highest quality and most valuable processing.
