Loading...Tops Camel Baby is an extremely fine fiber obtained from the very fine undercoat of the Bactrian camel, selected during the natural molting period. Coming mainly from the regions of Central Asia, where camels live in extreme climatic conditions between Mongolia and China, this fiber represents one of the rarest and finest expressions in the world of animal fibers. The tops processing, with combed and perfectly aligned fibers, ensures continuity, cleanliness and great ease of processing, making it ideal for spinning, weaving and fiber art projects that require exclusive materials of the highest quality.
Availability and packaging
Our baby camel tops are available in packages of 100 g, 500 g, 1 kg per color. Each package has a natural tolerance of ±3% and contains baby camel in continuous tape. The different packages are designed for both those who need small quantities and those who need large quantities and/or want to save money. For non-ECE shipments, the packages are vacuum-packed, reducing volume and lowering shipping costs. Don’t worry: once opened, the fiber returns to its original, fluffy volume without any loss of quality.

Baby camel fiber does not derive from the age of the animal, but indicates the finer, softer undercoat of the Bactrian camel, selected during natural moulting. It is characterized by a high fineness (about 15-22 microns) and a very soft and little wavy texture. The fiber has little cuticular scales and does not contain lanolin, making it light and particularly pleasant to the touch. Because of its natural insulating capacity and high fineness, it is a fine fiber suitable for high-quality processing.
Baby camel fiber comes mainly fromCentral Asian regions, particularly Mongolia and China, where most Bactrian camel herds are concentrated. In these areas of extreme climate, characterized by harsh winters and dry summers, the animals develop a very fine undercoat that is harvested during natural shedding. The tradition of using and processing this fiber is deeply rooted in local nomadic cultures, which have valued its insulating qualities and rarity for centuries.
