The yarn is composed of two thin ends twisted together softly and evenly to achieve a perfectly balanced texture free of stiffness. The result is a versatile yarn that is pleasant and easy to work with: it flows naturally between the fingers and creates knits with a defined and harmonious visual impact. Working proceeds smoothly and precisely, with edges that remain flat and well outlined. It is rare to find a yarn capable of encapsulating so many qualities: softness, warmth, elegance and precision of the result, combined with the possibility of being worked without difficulty with all stitches and patterns, whether knitted or crocheted.
Availability and packaging
Our Cashlove is available in 50 g balls, which can be purchased individually or in packs of 10 per color. Each pack has a natural tolerance of ±3%. The different packages are designed both for those who need small quantities and for those who need large quantities and/or want to save.
For more than a century, regenerated fibers have been one of the symbols of our textile district. Prato's famous regenerate comes from the production of recycled wool through cenciaioleria, the ancient art of selecting, recovering and transforming textile scraps and used clothing. What was initially a system dictated by economic necessity proved, over time, to be a genuine forerunner of thecircular economy: large-scale textile recycling was a reality in Prato long before sustainability became a shared global value. Today the district is recognized as one of the world's leading hubs for textile recycling, thanks to advanced technologies that carry on the regenerated tradition in a modern, highly specialized key. And it is no longer just wool that is regenerated: even fine fibers such as cashmere can be reborn.
CASHLOVE was born from these very fibers, because beauty and sustainability can go hand in hand.
Fifty-five percent of the cashmere used in the production of this yarn is GRS Global Recycled Standard certified (certified by ICEA TX-538).
Cashlove is worked with thin needles and crochet hooks in proportion to the yarn, so around No. 2½, to get the right consistency. For a more airy, transparent effect you can work with higher numbers, while for an even firmer result you can go down a half number. It is also perfect for weaving projects.
With needles: the shaved knit, which emphasizes the design-basis of the stitch, as it is precisely outlined, can be varied with any other stitch, whether raised or openwork, including ribbing, braids, peanuts and other fancy stitches, where the designs will be clear and obvious. The structure of the yarn, which, despite its softness, maintains a well-defined structure, allows for smooth, straight edges.
Withcrochet: low knitting is used to achieve a very compact result, but higher knits can also be worked without any difficulty, because the structure of the yarn allows you to work without problems even while holding multiple loops (i.e., cast-off threads) on the crochet hook. Thus, embossed patterns and different patterns can be made.
With the loom: we worked the yarn with comb-loom 48:10 (5 threads/cm). For twills, however, a tighter weave is preferred. Although it is a delicate yarn, it does not tend to fray or tear.
Tips for working and care.
Our colors generally have high light fastness and wash fastness. Exceptions are fluorescent colors, which have low light fastness and may release color in the presence of alkaline or harsh soaps and with prolonged washing. The same applies to dark, bright colors. In all such cases, it is essential to test a small sample before starting the project, especially if these materials are combined with raw or light-colored fibers. In any case, it is always a good idea to dry artifacts away from direct sunlight, preferably in semi-shade.
A practical tip: Buying balls or spools of different baths can cause what is known as the barred effect: subtle variations in shade that seem invisible when comparing balls and spools, but become apparent once worked. Therefore, always be sure to buy some yarn in excess of what is needed for your project. We will be sure to send you spools and balls of the same lot.
