Sourced from a breed of sheep (a cross between Merinos and Lincoln sheep) developed in the great pastoral regions of the southern hemisphere, this wool has been prized by generations of artisans for its regular texture and extraordinary versatility. Overall, it is a balanced wool with a combination of softness, strength and cohesion that makes it particularly versatile for spinning, weaving and felting.
Availability and packaging
Our Corriedale wool tops are available in packs of 50 g, 100 g, 500 g, 1 kg per color. Each package has a natural tolerance of ±3% and contains continuous ribbon fiber. The different packages are designed for both those who need small quantities and those who need large quantities and/or want to save money.
For non-ECE shipments, the packages are vacuum-packed, reducing volume and lowering shipping costs. Don’t worry: once opened, the fiber returns to its original, fluffy volume with no loss of quality.

Corriedale wool is the result of a cross between Merino sheep, known for their fine wool, and Lincoln sheep, which belong to the longwool category. From this combination comes a fleece that combines softness (micronage is generally between 25 and 30 microns) with a surprisingly long fiber length. It has a well-defined crimp that gives it elasticity and volume, while the medium-to-long fiber length provides good stability and ease of processing.

Corriedale wool originated in New Zealand and Australia, where the sheep breed of the same name was developed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries through the crossbreeding of Merino and Lincoln sheep. This selective breeding was designed to obtain a fiber that combined fineness and softness with greater yield and strength, suited to the climatic and production conditions of the Southern Hemisphere.
In addition to its origins in New Zealand and Australia, Corriedale wool is now also widely produced in South America, particularly in Uruguay and Argentina, where sheep farming is highly developed. In these areas the breed has spread because of its high adaptability to different climates and grazing conditions, becoming one of the most important fibers in the local wool industry.
Our Corriedale wool is mulesing-free, meaning it comes from farms that do not practice mulesing, a surgical procedure used in some areas of the world to prevent parasitic infestations in sheep. The decision to use wool from supply chains that exclude this practice reflects a concern for animal welfare and more responsible farm management.
The dyes used for our products meet the requirements of the OEKO-TEX standard, which guarantees the control and limitation of substances potentially harmful to human health and the environment.
Fiber dyeing is carried out in our dyehouse in Italy, in compliance with current European regulations on chemicals and environmental safety, including the REACH Regulation (EC No. 1907/2006), which governs the registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemical substances.
Operating within the European Union also entails compliance with additional provisions on environmental protection and textile product safety, such as the CLP Regulation (EC No. 1272/2008), relating to the classification, labeling and packaging of substances and mixtures. This regulatory framework ensures that dyeing processes are conducted according to high standards of safety, traceability and environmental responsibility, offering a reliable product for both the end user and the environment.

CAUTION: All of our colors generally exhibit high lightfastness and wash fastness. However, fluorescent colors (80's collection), in addition to having a lower lightfastness, may also suffer significant color loss in the presence of alkaline or particularly aggressive soaps, as well as with prolonged processing or washing. This phenomenon can occur, to varying degrees, even with dark and particularly bright colors. For materials dyed with these shades, we always recommend that a preliminary processing and washing test be carried out on a small sample before making the final design. This precaution is essential, especially when dyed materials are combined with unbleached or light-colored fibers.
Finally, to best preserve the colors, it is recommended that artifacts not be dried in direct sunlight, but in a shady place.
