Loading...Luce is a yarn with a distinctive character, designed for those who wish to add a touch of brilliance and sophistication to their textile creations. Luce is produced in Prato using a very special craft technique and combines our Piuma yarn and a precious lamé yarn. The result is a soft, fluffy, warm yarn, but with an extra edge: a metallic glow that contrasts with the hairiness of the wool for a style that is both minimal and luxurious.
The raw material comes from selected farms in South America, particularly Argentina, Uruguay and Chile: regions with a long tradition in sheep breeding and high quality standards in textile fiber production.
From raw fiber to finished yarn, the entire processing takes place in Italy: a short, controlled supply chain that combines the quality of South American raw material with Tuscan craftsmanship.
Our merino wool is mulesing-free, meaning it comes from farms that do not practice mulesing, a surgical procedure used in some parts of the world to prevent parasitic infestations in sheep. The choice to use wool from supply chains that exclude this practice reflects our commitment to animal welfare and more responsible farm management.
The dyes used for our products meet the requirements of the OEKO-TEX standard, which guarantees the control and limitation of substances potentially harmful to human health and the environment.
Fiber dyeing is carried out in our dyehouse in Italy, in compliance with current European regulations on chemicals and environmental safety, including the REACH Regulation (EC no. 1907/2006), which governs the registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemicals.
Operating within the European Union also entails compliance with additional environmental protection and textile safety regulations, such as the CLP Regulation (EC no. 1272/2008) on the classification, labeling and packaging of substances and mixtures. This regulatory framework ensures that dyeing processes are conducted according to high standards of safety, traceability and environmental responsibility, providing a reliable product for both the end user and the environment.
It is perfect for weaving, needle punching and tufting projects.
With the loom: we worked the yarn with a 20:10 comb-loom (2 threads/cm). It is an easy yarn to weave but tends to rotate on its own axis at the time of beating. We therefore recommend bringing the comb to a neutral position before batting. The results are sure to be impressive: compact, clean and absolutely elegant. Suitable for both interior design projects and fashion accessories.
Tips for working and care.
Our colors generally have high light fastness and wash fastness. Exceptions are fluorescent colors, which have low light fastness and may release color in the presence of alkaline or harsh soaps and with prolonged washing. The same applies to dark, bright colors. In all these cases, it is essential to test a small sample before starting the project, especially if these materials are combined with raw or light-colored fibers. In any case, it is always a good idea to dry artifacts away from direct sunlight, preferably in semi-shade.
A practical tip: Buying balls or spools of different baths can cause what is known as the barred effect: subtle variations in shade that seem invisible when comparing balls and spools, but become apparent once worked. Therefore, always be sure to buy some yarn in excess of what is needed for your project. We will be sure to send you spools and balls of the same lot.
