Marilyn was created to give life to sophisticated textile surfaces, where the natural softness of the fiber is interwoven with discreet but distinctive reflections, capable of capturing light without ever being excessive. Its structure enhances the quality of the raw material, offering a soft and enveloping hand, but at the same time defined and stable in workmanship. Availability and packaging
Our Marilyn is available in 100 g balls, which can be purchased individually or in packs of 10 per color. Each pack has a natural tolerance of ±3%. The different packages are designed both for those who need small quantities and for those who need large quantities and/or want to save.
Composition: 95% extra fine merino wool, 5% lamé
Length and weight: approximately 150 yards per 100 g / 164 yards per 3.5 oz
Each spool of Marilyn yarn is approximately 375 yards / 410 yards.

Raw materials used in DHG's yarns are selected and purchased from areas of the world where each specific fiber expresses the best natural and performance qualities. Depending on the type, the fibers come from vocated and traditionally specialized regions, chosen to ensure high standards of purity, fineness and textile performance. Once selected, the fibers enter a transformation process that combines technical expertise and craftsmanship savoir-faire. In fact, yarns such as Marilyn are made through painstaking work, much of it carried out with a still strongly artisanal approach in the textile district of Prato, a historic international center for fiber processing.
This balance between global sourcing and local processing allows the characteristics of each fiber to be maximized, resulting in yarns that combine quality, identity and manufacturing tradition.
Marilyn is worked with thick needles and crochet hooks, ideally 7 needles and crochet hooks. Working with needles is super easy and fast. Working it really gives a lot of satisfaction.
With needles: the shaved knit is ideal for highlighting the particularity of the yarn. Of course, all other work can be done, both embossed and openwork.
Withcrochet: the low knit is used to achieve a compact result, but you can easily work all the other knits as well because tubular webbing also allows you to work higher knits formed by rings that are closed from time to time on the crochet hook. In order to create relief and at the same time lighten the final weight, it is recommended to work by taking only one (and not two) of the loops that make up a knit (i.e., by taking only the half knit in front or the half knit in back)
Tips for working and care.
Our colors generally have high lightfastness and washfastness. Exceptions are fluorescent colors which have low lightfastness and may release color in the presence of alkaline or harsh soaps and with prolonged washing. The same applies to dark and bright colors. In all these cases it’s essential to test a small sample before starting the project, especially if these materials are combined with raw or light-colored fibers. In any case, it’s always good practice to dry finished items away from direct sunlight, preferably in shade.
A practical tip: Buying balls or spools of different baths can cause what is known as the barred effect: subtle variations in shade that seem invisible when comparing balls and spools, but become apparent once worked. Therefore, always be sure to buy some yarn in excess of what is needed for your project. We will be sure to send you spools and balls of the same lot.
