Loading...Mohair wool tops represent one of the finest and brightest animal fibers on the textile scene, obtained from the fleece of the Angora goat and selected to ensure maximum quality and uniformity. Working in tops, with combed and perfectly aligned fibers, enhances the natural luster and length of mohair, making it ideal for spinning, weaving and fiber art techniques that require lightness, movement and a sophisticated visual effect.
Availability and packaging
Our mohair tops are available in packages of 100 g, 500 g, 1 kg per color. Each package has a natural tolerance of ±3% and contains mohair tops in continuous tape. The different packages are designed for both those who need small quantities and those who need large quantities and/or want to save money. For non-ECE shipments, the packages are vacuum-packed, reducing volume and lowering shipping costs. Don’t worry: once opened, the fiber returns to its original, fluffy volume without any loss of quality.

Mohair is an animal fiber characterized by a smooth, loosely curled structure, with very fine, unpronounced cuticular scales that contribute to its typical luster. The fiber is generally long and uniform, with a variable diameter depending on the age of the animal (finer in kid mohair). It has high strength, elasticity and a soft but fluid hand, with a characteristic shiny and silky effect.
Mohair comes from the Angora goat, raised mainly in Turkey, South Africa and the United States, the most important areas for world production of this fiber. The Turkish tradition represents the historical core of breeding, while South Africa is now one of the main production hubs due to favorable climatic conditions and a highly specialized supply chain. Harvesting is done by periodic shearing, respecting the fleece's natural growth cycle.
The dyes used for our products meet the requirements of the OEKO-TEX standard, which guarantees the control and limitation of substances potentially harmful to human health and the environment.
The dyeing of fibers is carried out in our dyehouse in Italy, in compliance with current European regulations on chemical substances and environmental safety, including the REACH Regulation (EC No. 1907/2006), which governs the registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemical substances.
Operating within the European Union also entails compliance with additional provisions on environmental protection and textile product safety, such as the CLP Regulation (EC No. 1272/2008), relating to the classification, labeling and packaging of substances and mixtures. This regulatory framework ensures that dyeing processes are conducted according to high standards of safety, traceability and environmental responsibility, offering a reliable product for both the end user and the environment.
Our mohair tops are perfect for l´needle felting, forwater felting, for spinning, the hand weaving.

CAUTION: All of our colors tend to have high light fastnesses and wash fastnesses. However, the fluorescent colors (80's collection) in addition to having low light fastness, in the presence of alkaline or very aggressive soaps and prolonged processing/washing, may show a loss of color also important, this can also happen for dark and bright colors. Therefore, for materials dyed with these types of colors, we recommend that a trial processing and washing of a small sample be carried out before proceeding with the final design. This is absolutely essential in case these materials are combined with raw or light-colored materials. In addition, it is a good idea never to dry artifacts in direct sunlight but in semi-shade.
