Loading...Structured and sophisticated, N.5 is a yarn born from the meeting of alpaca and extra-fine wool, a combination that combines warmth, softness and tactile quality in a rich and enveloping natural base. On this material architecture is grafted the presence of lamé, discreet but decisive, which introduces a luminous component capable of breaking the depth of the yarn with controlled and elegant reflections. The result is a studied balance between opposites: the velvety softness of the noble fibers and the technical brilliance of the metallic yarn, which together build an aesthetic narrative based on contrast. It is here that the yarn expresses its strongest identity, playing between material sensuality and graphic rigor, between naturalness and light. Designed for projects that seek presence and character, N.5 translates the richness of its composition into contemporary textile surfaces, where each stitch becomes part of a precise and distinctive visual language.
Availability and packaging
Our N.5 is available in 100 g balls, which can be purchased individually or in packs of 10 per color. Each pack has a natural tolerance of ±3%. The different packages are designed both for those who need small quantities and for those who need large quantities and/or want to save.
Composition: 55% virgin wool, 25% alpaca, 19% polyamide, 1% lamé

Each spool of yarn No. 5 is approximately 350 yards / 382 yards.

Yarn tension with needles: 16 stitches and 21 knits in plain knit 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 in.
Yarn tension with crochet hook: 15 stitches and 18 rows in plain knit 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 in.
Raw materials used in DHG's yarns are selected and purchased from areas of the world where each specific fiber expresses the best natural and performance qualities. Depending on the type, the fibers come from vocated and traditionally specialized regions, chosen to ensure high standards of purity, fineness and textile performance.
Once selected, the fibers enter a transformation process that combines technical expertise and craftsmanship savoir-faire. In fact, yarns such as N.5 are made through careful twisting, largely carried out with a still highly artisanal approach in the textile district of Prato, a historic international center for fiber processing.
This balance between global sourcing and local processing allows the characteristics of each fiber to be maximized, resulting in yarns that combine quality, identity, and manufacturing tradition.
With needles: the shaved knit is smooth and flat, decorative because of the mottling of colors and the hairy, slightly irregular presence of alpaca that gives variety. The shaved knit can be varied by multiple workings, either openwork or raised as long as there is no excess.
Withcrochet: in addition to low knitting, higher knits can be worked, but keep in mind that the hairy presence of alpaca can create some problems if there are many loops to close on the crochet hook. For the type of yarn, low knit and its variants are preferred.
Tips for working and care.
Our colors generally have high lightfastness and washfastness. Exceptions are fluorescent colors which have low lightfastness and may release color in the presence of alkaline or harsh soaps and with prolonged washing. The same applies to dark and bright colors. In all these cases it’s essential to test a small sample before starting the project, especially if these materials are combined with raw or light-colored fibers. In any case, it’s always good practice to dry finished items away from direct sunlight, preferably in shade.
A practical tip: Buying balls or spools of different baths can cause what is known as the barred effect: subtle variations in shade that seem invisible when comparing balls and spools, but become apparent once worked. Therefore, always be sure to buy some yarn in excess of what is needed for your project. We will be sure to send you spools and balls of the same lot.
