The selvedge serves to preserve the fabric, at its extreme sides, from fraying. And also to ensure that, during the various stages of finishing–finishing then–the piece of fabric holds up and does not unravel. After these tasks are fulfilled, the selvedge is cut. It is practically a part of fabric processing that becomes waste, noble though. The selvedges you find here at DHG are collected from woolen mills in our textile district. The compositions can be different: cotton, linen, viscose and polyester. They are perfect for hand weaving but also for working with needles andcrochet hooks. Also suitable for tailoring work. In short, they lend themselves to a thousand uses.
The selvedges are also part of the Rehab selection and represent one of the best examples of the circular economy applied to textiles, where quality materials are enhanced instead of being wasted.
Availability and packaging
Our selvedges are available in 100 g balls, which can be purchased individually or in packs of 10 per color. Each pack has a natural tolerance of ±3%. The different packages are designed both for those who need small quantities and for those who need large quantities and/or want to save. Please note: the quantities within the packages may not be continuous, but we will do our best to avoid having pieces that are too short.
