This yarn is super soft, warm, fluffy. A pure joy to the touch. Not to mention the colors.
Our Sierra is dedicated to all those who want to work quality products without giving up expressing their creativity.
What is a "soffilo"?
A soffilo is a special type of yarn made by blowing fibers inside a very fine knit tubular. This unique construction results in an incredibly soft, light and fluffy yarn. The fibers are trapped gently in the tubular, with the ends protruding slightly, creating an elegant "halo" effect.
Here's how it works in detail:
- Mesh tubular: at the center of the gusset is a thin mesh tubular, often made of polyamide (nylon), which gives structure and elasticity.
- Fiber filling: fibers-such as wool, alpaca or blends-are blown inside the tubular, distributing themselves evenly.
- Adherence: the fibers stay inside the tubular without needing to be spun, resulting in a light but bulky yarn.
- Appearance and texture: the ends of the fibers remain slightly exposed, giving the yarn its characteristic softness and a delicate "fluff" effect.
Why choose a blown yarn?
Blown yarns offer several advantages:
- they are super soft and gentle on the skin
- they are lightweight yet warm
- they have a very good yield (more meters per gram)
- easy to work with, perfect for a modern, airy look in both knitting and crochet.
Whether you want to create cozy garments or lightweight accessories, puffers are an excellent choice for combining style and comfort.
Absolutely unisex.
Sierra is worked with fairly thick needles and crochet hooks. Suitable for weaving, embroidery, tufting and needlepunch.
With needles: beautiful shaved knit and ribbed, plain or raised work.
With crochet: the ideal knit is low knit. Perfect is the raised ring fur stitch.
With the loom: we worked the yarn with comb-loom 24:10 (2.4 threads/cm). The yarn is strong and easy to work. Perfect in both warp and weft. The end result is soft, warm and perfect for both fashion projects and blankets, runners, pillows. The resulting bangs are lovely.
