Silk fabric cut mixes are composed of small cuts selected from our production, often derived from offcuts or inventories.
Buying these materials means making a sustainable choice, but you should also be aware that these packages have some limitations since the colors available vary according to production and the color assortment is limited nor is it possible to select color combinations within the package. However, we guarantee you that there are at least 2 different color shades inside. This approach not only contributes to waste reduction but also provides an opportunity to explore new creative and sustainable combinations. And that is why these materials are part of our DHG Rehab selection because they are fabrics that are given a second life but have the high quality and characteristics of the fabrics in the collection.

Cuts of pure silk fabric.
Silk chiffon is a light-textured, semi-transparent fabric made by simple weaving of very fine, high-twist yarns, giving the material a slightly ruched surface and a fluid, dynamic drape. Its hand is soft and airy, with a natural visual elegance.
The weight of silk fabric is traditionally expressed in momme (mm), a Japanese unit of measurement that indicates the density of the fabric: the higher the value in momme, the greater the texture and coverage of the material. In the case of chiffon, low values-such as 6 momme-identify particularly light, thin and transparent fabrics, ideal for work that requires movement, delicacy and layering.
Silk chiffon has its roots in the Asian textile tradition, particularly in China, where silk production has a history dating back thousands of years. Over time, this fabric spread to Europe and became a symbol of refinement and prestige, thanks to its lightness and ethereal appearance. Even today, the silk used for chiffon production comes mainly from areas with a long silk tradition, where technical skills and fiber quality ensure high standards of processing.
The dyes used for our products meet the requirements of the OEKO-TEX standard, which guarantees the control and limitation of substances potentially harmful to human health and the environment.
The dyeing of fibers is carried out in our dyehouse in Italy, in compliance with current European regulations on chemical substances and environmental safety, including the REACH Regulation (EC No. 1907/2006), which governs the registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemical substances.
Operating within the European Union also entails compliance with additional provisions on environmental protection and textile product safety, such as the CLP Regulation (EC No. 1272/2008), relating to the classification, labeling and packaging of substances and mixtures. This regulatory framework ensures that dyeing processes are conducted according to high standards of safety, traceability and environmental responsibility, offering a reliable product for both the end user and the environment.
Silk chiffon is especially popular in felting and nuno felting techniques, where it is used as a textile base . Its light and open structure allows wool to penetrate easily during processing, creating a stable bond between fabric and fiber. It is ideal for creating wavy surfaces, three-dimensional effects and transparency effects, as well as for embellishing scarves, lightweight garments and art projects.
Silk chiffon is an extremely versatile fabric that lends itself to many creative and decorative applications. Because of its lightness and natural ability to absorb colors, it is particularly suitable for artistic dyeing techniques such as batik and silk painting, where it allows for intense color effects and subtle shading.
