“Maori”, the blend of carded wool, is a mix of wool from New Zealand. Created in our workshop after years of testing and selecting to be able to offer a perfect product to felt enthusiasts of both needle and wet felting.

The outcome is excellent. So perfect that the carded wool blend “Maori” quickly became the first choice by everyone who works with handmade felt and hand spinning too. Its versatility is one of the reasons why we decided to take on a new challenge, which is a collaboration with Darius Dolatyari and Célia Boulesteix. Two French artists who graduated from the Fashion Academy.

The carded wool “Maori” and Moving Landscape

Darius and Célia were guests at Lottozero, an active textile research lab based in Prato, for a residency. During their stay they worked hard on Moving Landscape, a project that’s as engaging as it’s poetic. It’s a 24 sq. m panel, made with the wet felting technique, and 5 customs also in felt. Inspired by Greek mythology, that Darius experienced first- hand whilst on holiday in Greece. Images and feelings, which he calls ‘body landscape’, related to nature: the way we walk, breathe and dance is influenced by the landscape around us and the body is like fabric too: its fibres move creating corners, curves, lights and shadows. The aim of the project is to bring the felt to life through the body and make it become a living, malleable tool.

Moving Landscape to be a performance

It was great to be involved in this ambitious and powerful project and to see our carded wool turned into such exciting and evocative art.
