We’re back ready for a new knit stitch! Today’s one is the shuttle crochet stitch with a solid texture and a prominent motif. Perfect for a blanket or a scarf.

We’ve chosen the soft and lightweight Fluffy, a mohair and silk yarn, for this knit stitch. Here it’s in the colour Hydrangea but you can find loads of other colours on the shop.

Tutorial to crochet the shuttle stitch

MATERIALS
Fluffy yarn col. Tenderness 100 g / 3.5 oz
Knitting needle n° 8 EU / 11 US

METHOD

It’s done on a multiple of 4 + 3 foundation chains.

Row 1: chain 1, skip 2 chains from the hook, 1 single crochet in each of the following chains
row 2: chain 1, 1 single crochet in each single crochet of the previous row
row 3: chain 3, * double crochet 1 in each of the following 2 stitches, 1 pineapple in relief [=(1 yarn over the hook, insert the hook from the front towards the back around the corresponding single crochet of the row 1, 1 yarn over the hook and pull the loop out, pulling it to the height of the double crochet), repeat the part in the round brackets 1 more time, 1 yarn over and bind off 4 loops on the hook, yarn over 1 and bind off the last 2 loops, skip the corresponding stitch of the previous row], double crochet 1 in the following stitch *, repeat always from * to * finish off with 1 double crochet on each of the last 2 stitches
row 4 – 6: chain 3, 1 double crochet on each stitch of the previous row
row 5: chain 3, * 1 pineapple in relief (= around the double crochet of the raw 2 below, work as said for the previous pineapple in relief), 1 double crochet in each of the following 3 stitches *, 1 pineapple in relief, 1 double crochet on the initial stitch of the previous row
row 7: chain 3, * 1 double crochet in each of the following 2 stitches, 1 pineapple in relief, 1 double crochet on the following stitch *, 1 double crochet on each of the last 2 stitches
row 8: repeat from the row 4.

Start with the part that comes before the 1^st asterisk, repeat from * to * for all the row and finish off with the part which comes after the 2^nd asterisk.
