Knitting For Breakfast – two sisters one great hobby!

Knitting For Breakfast’s Alessia and Fabia are two sisters who’ve got a great passion for knitting! They learnt how to knit when they were children under the watchful eye of their patient Grandmas, who while knitting told them stories and about how in their day all women knew how to knit and would even knit whilst walking to the factory.

After finding themselves out of work a few years ago they grabbed their knitting needles and discovered that their childhood passion could be just the thing to reinvent themselves.

And that’s exactly what they did.

They worked really hard to learn new stitches and techniques but most of all how to design their own patterns and now they make a living from this old but ageless passion, giving it an original and modern key to interpretation.

The knitting For Breakfast girls live in a small village near the mountains which is probably why their main source of inspiration comes from the surrounding nature, and all their projects, colours and settings originate from plants and flowers. They love working outdoors in the company of their three cats while hopefully sipping coffee.

Knitting is a lifestyle for them and a way of returning to appreciate a slow pace in a world that is often too frenetic. The pleasure of creating something with their own hands but the thing that excites them the most is new yarn flowing through their hands.

That’s why they snapped up our offer of making two garments using a few of our summer yarns. Yarns which they had never tried before and found them really nice and easy to knit with.

They have designed two light loose-knit sweaters for us, ideal now we’re coming up to the end of the summer. You can find patterns for both of them here on our blog. Great, isn’t it?! Check out the patterns and the yarns they used here.
