This fringed scarf has been made by Lanandolab, a creative knitting workshop owned by Roberta Falco.

Lanandolab started out in Puglia 2014 as Roberta’s hobby and then in 2016 after working in clothes shops for years, it became a full-time job for her. Her main aim is to contrast fast fashion and create knitted and crocheted accessories using high quality yarns. A characteristic we’re not used to having in our wardrobes.

The fringed scarf has been made using the Cyrcus yarn, a mix of alpaca and wool. Light weight and warm, double -threaded.

Creating the scarf is really easy thanks to the chosen stitch, that is, the half reverse canvas stitch. A stitch with a neat and chunky look and even a bit optical. The fringed scarf is gorgeous both on the front and the back. Not bad, seen as we’re talking about a scarf that we’ll see both sides of.

How to make a fringed scarf

METHOD

Remember to double up the thread before starting.

Cast on 32 stitches using no. 12 EU / 17 US needles.

Row 1: *purl 1 and slip 1 purlwise keeping the thread to the front*, repeat always from * to *

Row 2: purl.

Repeat row 1 and row 2 until you reach a length of 240 cm.

Now you just have to add on the fringe!

Cut 222 fringes of 16cm each, then fold them in half. The only need to be added onto the external edge of the right side of the scarf, starting from one end (the beginning or the end is the same).

Insert the hook in the stitch where you want to attach the fringe, take the fringe that’s folded in two and pull it outwards. Now all that’s left to do is make a loop and pass the tail of the fringe through it.

The fringed scarf is now ready to be worn!
