Yelena Beliaev is an Israeli fibre artist with Russian roots. Her favourite medium of expression is needle felting and, and through it, she mainly creates three-dimensional fruits and vegetables with strong realistic connotations. All her installations are connected to specific traditions, cultural codes or memories that belong to her.
Among the leading factors that nourish her inspiration, however, are all the emotions that arise from a recalling exercise that she carries out on both memory and identity.

With our blend of New Zealand carded wool, called Maori, she has created an eye-catching cornucopia filled with peppers, mushrooms, a juicy apple, a fiery red chilli, and much more. With all of them being incredibly realistic. A realism worthy of those notable painters who dedicated their careers to painting still lifes.
